Hi folks
Another simple question for you.
I have noticed Sytems constructed from all sorts of containers including rubbish bins.

Is there any type of container not acceptable?
I have a number of tubs which I was planning to use for my first small system, but I noticed a stikker saying "Not for food use"
I have seen identical looking tubs in some of the pictures of your forum.
Should I use these tubs?

Most of the tubs, tanks, bins etc that people use are made from "food grade" polyethylene Lou....

If your tub specifically says "Not for food" I would tend to believe the warning and wonder as to what might leach from it with exposure over time to water....

These days it's probably unusual to find something that's not food safe.

Two suggestions....

One... have a look through the Glossary which lists the most common abbreviations pf plastics...

Two... as a general guide.... most food safe plastics are made from "virgin" materials and are usually olive green, black or blue in colour....

Other colours MAY be safe, but also may indicate that they are mmade from other materials, certainly they indicate investigation and caution.
