I haven't found a consolidated list anywhere (sometimes no information at all) about how much different components weigh. For people building on raised platforms, the total wet and "dry" weight and weight distribution is vital. For the moment, I need the weight of a "standard" BYAP GB: [edited after EB's information below, thanks J!] 500L Hydroton/Canna : 20kg/50L ?? = 200kg 500L HPDE GB : 20kg BYAP GB Stand : 48kg Water (180L) : 180kg TOTAL : 268kg dry. 448kg flooded. |

Still, that seems like a pretty wide range, so whilst I had previously assumed there wasn't much difference between IBCs, there obviously is. If that weight difference is attributable to differences in the "stackability" of the IBCs then I guess we need to be more vigilant when designing systems with components sitting atop IBCs? If some of the weight difference is attributable to the bottle then we need to keep an eye out to avoid getting a light-weight model, for longevity sake. In any case, when filled the weight difference is almost negligible! |

We have thousands of IBC's at work and there is so many different designs and shapes. I thought I was being broad with my weight suggestion.... not broad enough it seems I have weighed a standard looking IBC, the ones we see most of, simple galve frame on galve base... it was 72kg. But there is timber based ones, plastic based ones, some have different frame work or bladder design. So many types. |

I think the main thing people need to consider is 1000l of water weighs 1tonne. That's a basic single ibc system without consideration for media or fish or Veg in the footprint of 1m2 not suitable for any decking without some sort of reinforcements Sent from my HTC Desire S using Tapatalk 2 |
