I've done a lot of reading here and there is a wealth of information. I've gone through the tacked pump thread at the top. A quick background on this first system I'd like to put together:

1) CHIFT-PIST system
2) 500 gallon/2000 liter FT, but there is the option of filling it with less water
3) 200 gallon/800 liter GB with pea gravel media
4) 100 gallon/400 liter ST (maybe a bigger sump tank will be needed)

My plan is to use the 500 gallon/2000 liter fish tank pictured on the left below. The grow bed will be this 200 gallon/800 liter containment tray here http://www.plastic-mart.com/item.aspx?id=3518. I have not ordered it yet. I can't go bigger as much as I'd like to. I will just have to stay very low on the fish-stocking density. Reading through this thread here-->http://www.backyardaquaponics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5023&start=15, using a stocking density for the total grown out weight, would have to stay below 3 kg/100 liters or a total of 24 kg (8 X 100L) for 800 liters of GB.

From my readings here, I need a fish-safe (no oil) tether float switch sump pump. After much searching, I found this one: http://www.aquaticeco.com/subcategories/1199/Pro-Drainer-Submersible-Pump. TCLynx mentions the website and I really want to be able to order from a U.S. company for shipping reasons, etc.

So does that sound like a reasonable pump or does anyone have any other recommendations?

I PM'd an experienced poster here with some questions and received some great advice/feedback.

I am going to abandon the idea of a float switch in favor of a Bell Siphon and a continuous flow pump within a CHIFT-PIST system. I think this would really fit the bill.
