I am about to set out on the journey of aquaponics. I need to know
where to source the gear I require, to do this.

gee Jim, how much money are you willing to spend? There are so many variables depending on the size of your property, the size of the system and of course the big one... how much cash! :) There are lots of sources of cheap supplies.

Welcome to the forum. :)

Are you just after grow beds or also the fish tanks.
EB has good contacts for both.
I got my tank from Rainfill in Osb Park - look them up in the white pages. Excellent service and quality.
I also used Joels Barrel man for the grow beds, but if you have the cash and you aren't going small I would recommend against using half a 200L drum for a grow bed as you need many and then you have too many variables that can go wrong. One of them can easily overflow. If there is another cheap option that is larger take it.

I also got some large pumps from Murray (forum member) http://www.aquaponics.net.au/ - no failures yet and none expected.

It all depends on what you want to build.

Thanks for the replies. For now, I'm looking at 2 grow tanks, 1 fish tank.
I don't have lots of space, so need to keep it small. I prefer to spend as
little as possible to start. I can always expand my setup later. Jim :D

Jim, i love joels traditional setup, and would love one under my planned pergola, but prices of water tanks have gone through the roof!

I know that the wait time for a rainwater tank can be upto about 15 weeks

You might want to look into "alternative" containers as many others have..............say a 1000L IBC (approx $100) and a couple of bath tubs ($20each)?
