I bumped an old post with this question but wasnt sure if any of those people who posted in it are still active on here. So would like to ask generally.

I paid for 3 IBCs this morning off Gumtree delivered while I was at work, they were advertised as "non toxic, easy to clean, great for water storage". Got home from work to find "nuplex resins" written on it, and also "Viscopol 2046". Closer inspection revealed some clear-dried glue-like substance stuck to the caps and inside of the ibcs. Tried turning the draining taps and a small amount of white substance dripped out. Obviously not clean
As of yet i can not get in contact with the person i bought them off (wonder why?)

Any info/advice on whether I can use the IBCs for AP?? Are they safe (non toxic)?

If someone has received IBCs with same stuff, did you use it? how did you clean it?

Was looking forward to cutting some metal and plastic and forming the basis of my system. Now my head feels like this ----> :upset:

Please help :(

:notworthy:

Really hard to track down the MSDS info... but from what I could find....

The Viscopol 2046 is an acrylic polymer... made from latex.... used essentially as a "plastic coating" on concrete surfaces....

Principle ingredient appears to be Latex (50%)... and some Propylene Glycol...

Should be safe enough if you triple rinse/dry.... any residue left afterwards might be slightly acidic...

The "nuplex resins" could be anything... basically Unsaturated Polyester Resins... used as sealing, coating resins of various sorts...

Hard to be more specific without knowing the exact product....

But apparantly Nuplex were sold the resins products by Orica... which probably means that anything nasty in them... has already been released into the atmosphere of the neighbourhoods surrounding the manufacturing plant anyway....
