Can anyone recommend a square/rectangular fish tank in the 20-35 gallon range? I can buy a random storage tote at Wal-Mart but I'd rather have something someone else has tested and not have to worry (as much) about it springing a leak.

Bonus points if it's footprint is 24"x36" or smaller :-)

Hey LowCarb:
For a fish tank or grow beds? A 50 gallon fish tank is nice if you're wanting to use it for fish, these can be found used on Craigslist for not much. The hardware store near us that has a pretty nice fish operation too had aquariums on sale for really cheap last time I was there. Rubbermaid stock tanks are great, the smallest for a fish tank is I think 70 gallons. Also why so small? For price or for space reasons? Do aesthetics matter here?

I try to not consider anything that costs more than $1 per gallon of capacity.

Sorry I just now read that you're looking for a fish tank. At the top of my 2012 member thread there is a picture of these neat squareish tubs from Lowe's that are 32 gallons. Check those out maybe.

Yep, it is for a fish tank. I'm keeping it small for a starter/testing system since I haven't done aquaponics before (I've done DWC and NFT hydroponics though), and to keep costs down. Aesthetics don't matter at all to me; I'm not against a regular glass fish tank but would I have to worry about algae?

That square tub looks like it should work pretty good (and hopefully bow out less than rectangular ones), I'll check for one next time I'm at Lowe's.

Check craigslist and definitely keep an eye out for a Petco ad featuring there dollar per gallon sale. A 40 gallon breeder tank is 36x18. A 20 or 29 gallon should be a 30x12 footprint-29 being taller. All three of those are on the Petco sales when they run them.
