hi every system ive come across on here uses pipes.would a 2 inch diameter hose do the same job? |

Hose/pipe no difference really. they both house liquid. |

Both would probably be a lot easier than aqueducts as well. Maybe that could be a challenge... BW ? |

Pipes can't kink stopping water flow. No water flow = no O2 transfer = dead fish. |

I use kinkless pipes from my pump to PVC pipes, gives me the option to move the pump around a bit and ease to clean. I suppose PVC pipes are good in the way that you can fix them with saddles or cable ties without the issue of them collapsing/kinking. PVC doesnt degrade over time either. But the answer is yes, you can use anything that transfers water, just depends weather you want piece of mind or run the risk of failure to some extent. hope this helps

Thing I don't like about hose, is its determination to return to the shape of the roll it was stored on. That and it is more expensive (at least in Thailand) than regular PVC pipe. |

ahhh thanks i knew it would be wiser to check before wasting time and money. i conveniently forgot how annoying hoses were out of a fear of plumbing. thanks again. |

Before I found out about AP I had never done any plumbing in my life. PVC and glue is just so easy, I have a pipe cutter too, just a few $'s. It's like Lego but in one colour, no need to fear plumbing

It's a shame poly pipe is so expensive in larger sizes. Using barbed connectors is so easy and cheap in 19mm. |

I use 19mm poly pipe in my small greenhouse system from the fish tank pump to the growbeds with no problems so far. |

I found the flow restrictions created by flex was hard to get around. I like glued pipe because it does not fall out, kink, flop, flap etc and you know it will stay where you put it.... |
