Remove the grill from the bathtub drain before you put in the media!
Or like me, it will clog up with roots causing water to overflow on the worst possible day i.e Christmas Day.
Like me, you will race frantically to the shed to bend some wire into a hook to try and pull up the root mass. But with the grill in the way, only bits of root come up and you will be there for 20 minutes pulling up bits of rootmass while your wife is yelling at you because we will be late for Christmas brunch at her mums while you sheepishly reply "yes dear only a few more minutes" with one arm stuck shoulder deep into your growbed.
Out of desperation you try stabbing the rootmass with the wire in the hope of breaking it up and 10 minutes later you hear the most satisfying gurgle as it is washed down into the fishtank.
You will breathe a sigh of relief while nursing your skinned knuckles because a standpipe cover drilled with holes is like a cheese grater on your skin.
