Does anyone know where I can get some 20 mm (3/4") media in Adelaide that is PH neutral?
Thank you in advance.

I dunno about pH neutral, but I got 16mm-20mm blue metal from sleepers and creepers in Coromandel Valley, seems to work fine. Of course its pretty difficult to work with in terms of planting and the fingers.

You can get some 12-18 mm pH neutral media from most hydro shops... it's called hydroton...

Easy for you maybe.. When they introduced a permit requirement (with background and character check) for hydro shops in South Aust a few years ago, most of em suddenly dissapeared..

Make sure if you are going to pay for hydroton make sure it is the proper stuff and not the Chinese import..

It looks the same but the quality is questionable..
I had a Look at the quality and I was not happy with it..
I'm not sure what other think of the chinese imported stuff..

All the hydro shops i've been to in Adelaide have aqua canna clay or whatever it is, not hydroton..

Yep, do not get conned into buying the cheaper Chinese shite, as it is just that... shite. We bought apallet of it once and it had all sorts of stuff in it... cigarette butts, firecracker bits, ribbons, plastic... obviously they were celebrating new year as they were bagging it up!

Thanks all for the feedback. I ended up getting 20 mm river stone from NATIONAL TERRAZZO, North Plympton. I tested a few other media but they changed the pH. It took about 1080 kg to fill 1.1 x 1 m x 2 growbeds to 30 cm. I washed it all and removed sand and a lot of the small stones by using a plastic bakery tray lined with a coarse gutter guard.

Cheers
Pat

Do you need a permit to access the atmosphere too? lol (airoponics)

I am in Adelaide. I got Hydroton from Solardome in Norwood.
Was suprised that it was made in Germany.

I passed them over because it's not in their online store..

I did find that Gully Reptile Centa (not a typo) in Modbury carry it..
