Just read almost the entire "Trout by the waterfall" thread on my IPhone, from 5am, with one hand, in a dark room, with a cranky 6 week old son lying on my chest, daring not to move more than my thumb in case I distrubed him....just got back to finish it now...I recon that deserves me a Nooby McNo-research question of C1 or anyone else that wants to throw their hat in regarding concrete sealing. I did search the forum, and googled for about 1.5hrs yesterday, but Im still not clear on it all. I notice early in the thread C1 that you said you did not seal the concrete tanks viewtopic.php?f=18&t=5504#p188808 . Is this because you have no fear of concrete chem leaching into the water, or did you put something in the concrete iteself to make it food safe? More broadly, what is the low down on sealing concrete/brick etc. tanks for use with food and potable water. We've got no seal, vs waterproofing/sealing (for the concrete's benefit), vs fish safe concrete seal which the koi ppl love (but is this also food safe?), then there is talk of some sealer being safe for use with potable waters (and I assume food). But it seems with everyone trying to pitch their product at the boardest and most general application areas that it is extremely hard to cut throw the crap/detail and find the right product. Can someone explain it to me plain and simple please (Stucco, C1?)! Do you really need to seal the concrete for it to be safe for fish and food production. If so, what should we be using? Consideration of cost is also important since we are DIYers. Cheers, Luke |

I spoke with Cromlin's tech support who said thier Pond sealer (Coloured) is non toxic to fish and suitable for drinking water. Unless anyone advises against this is what we are going to use on our brick and concrete pond Steve |

After all the products I’ve used, I have decided that http://protective.sherwin-williams.com/ ... oduct-6842 epoxy paint is the way to go. However, paraffin wax is a cheap alternative. |

stucco wrote: However, paraffin wax is a cheap alternative. Wow cool. I guess if you were doing a 3000lt pluss tank you probably want a bigger "blow torch" or heat gun I expect. Other wise it would take forever, Lol |
