Is there anyway to create a filter of sorts in the FT? My FT has lots fine particles again (probably because i have 60L/min worth of air into the tank now days). I have under fed the fish and have added a 2nd SLO. I can still see the bottom but kinda murky. My idea was to have a small pump and pump water into a tub floating on top with filter material in it but it got me thinking. Can i just dangle those toilet brush looking filters in the FT or has anyone made a in tank filter?

Search ABF but I'd just put some filter wool over the gb outlet to remove fines

Buy a cheapie 1500lph pump off eBay. They type that is internal to aquariums. Go to bunnings and buy a 5 to 15 micron water filter. The type they use for water. Attached the filter roll to the cheapie pump. |

Not sure if this applies to your setup, but I had a similar problem with suspended solids the other day. My SLO used to span the entire tank (approximately 3m). I shortened it to approximately 1.5m and almost over night all the solids had gone. I guess there is a little more suction/force now the same amount of flow has half the amount of SLO. |

Hmmm strange i have actually added an extra SLO and have put the flow probably 200-300% more into the FT so technically more solids should have been removed. I think the issue may be due to the air pump. I probably had 10-20L/min but i changed it to 60L and overnight it went crap lol |

Yes the bigger air pump will be moving a lot more water around from the bottom to the top and picking up any small solids with it. Adding the exrta SLO would slow the suction down not add to it. |

Opps your actually right!Might change the setup of the second SLO to be just below the surface of the FT water level as it will just be a glass shrimp/duckweed tank. |

Yes you only need a small flow to a duckweed tank |
