Been perusing the BYAP online shop stuff and I see where the Grunfos C7 pump has an on/off float switch..........has anyone used similar instead of an electronic timer?
I was thinking of placing in sump and tweeking ball valves on the GB's to flood by time pump cuts out.
To keep Rupert happy and adhering to the kiss principal, that's one less thing to go wrong.
Sound good or what??

Bushy, the float switch acts as a level control... activating on/off according to float level...

We use the Grundfos pumps in the larger BYAP kit systems... both the fish tank, which is timer controlled, where it acts as a low level cutoff to prevent the tank draining too low ( for fish and pump life)... and in the sump, where the high level initiates the return of water back to the fish tank, and the low level to prevent the sump emtying and burning out the pump...

Been running for about 7 years I think, without a timer.. It floods and drains by using the float switch on the pump in the fish tank, and the float switch on the pump in the drain tank...

DOH !!....thanks EB, I did look for that info......gunna sack my research assistant....

Been using a cheap 1/2 hp home sump pump (29 Dollars) for about 3 years with no real problems at all. I am also using the ball valves to regulate the growbeds and send the excess water back to the fishtank providing lots of airation. Works for me...
