Sounds interesting John, and sounds like the sort of thing you might be able to make it fit in to an aquaponics system... I couldn't find much info on the net though with a quick search.

To insert a link into a post, hit post reply at the bottom of the topic. Just above the text box that you start typing into, there's a number of small buttons, one looks like the world with some chain links, click this..

p.s. I lopve your stone seats in the picture, did you make them?

Ahhh, thanks EB.
No my Future Father in law makes those benches the river rock ones are my favorite. He makes them with red brick, stained glass, and just about anything one can stick in concrete. Now that man just keeps going. Try this site if anyone cares to get a better idea on the evacuated tube.

Thats great John... I hadn't seen anyone insert a web page into their post before, damn good way of doing it, then people don't have to open up another window to go and look at a link... Nice one... :D

We are all still discovering some of the possibilities of this new discussion group software..

Well if anyone could make a home built model my bet would be on this group. The idea's that come out of this forum seem endless.
I am going to contact these folks and get a price for a demo model.
One maybe two tubes?

Received a price quote of $40 plus $10 shipping from sssolar.com for a Seido-5 Demo Tube. They say its fully functional, so I'm going to order it and then see what I have to manufacture to interface it into the system water flow. May all turn out to be a bust but have to try and I will of course keep all posted on the outcome.

After a few days of emailing back and forth here are some pictures of what the people at sun spot solar, call a table top model. No performance specs but they expect it could heat 8 gallons of water a day from 55 deg f to 100 deg f sorry i didnt do the conversion, its either late of im lazy. The price $298.00, and its takes up a 2.5 ft cubic space, weight 30 lbs. Still waiting on the single tube I purchased.

The pic's are what they sent me in response to my inquiry. With my math it works out to 3000 BTU per day on the table top unit. I dont like that the header is copper piped but maybe have a closed loop system with a coil of pex in a tank for some heat transfer. Not sure if I could just let it thermal syphon or not yet. Either that or a small solar pump would be the best I figure.
I'm thinking of having my fish tank pump up to a blue barrel, (the coil would be placed in that), then have the blue barrel dump into the grow beds and the beds back into the fish tank. Keeps me at one pump for the system.
Plans change as we learn more and bounce idea's about so who knows.
