Well if its one or the other and more height is required, you do what you have to, you know....

I was trying to think of at least a reasonable analogy for this but after a few beers this is what you get.

You go to an aquatic amusement park and go on the water slide; there are two. One has a number of turns in it in which the radius is reasonably large and has few joins on the sections. Off you go; the ride is fast with a few minor bumps which slow you down (or at least give you a little discomfort).
The second has sharper turns and more joins; the ride is slower because you are being bounced off the roof and the walls. You end up at the bottom with bruises and dislocations.

go and have a few more beers please.....

Going off topic (slightly) Talking of amusement parks most of you live in the wrong part of Oz or are too young but years ago before OHAS was even thought of an engineer in the Riverland (Monash) built a playground for adults.... not that kind you idiots but for adults to play kids again

Iam trying to get pics up but google monash playground and you'll see what I'am raving about

I arrived one day with NZ tourists and the team just arrrived with 60 gallons of warm wax, that we had great pleasure in spreading over the slides etc

No need to be polite about it I will anyway. I can PM you my address if you want to send a couple of cartons of Coopers Sparkling Ale over. :)

Yav its not all bad; if you are on a downhill run from head and your pipes are big enough you can use whatever bends you like and break anything you want.

For anyone with a Laguna pump, I found a nice alternative to the 1-1/2" click-fit connector with the barb. Replace it with this little beauty and then a 40mm joiner to your PVC pipe. No hose clamps required.

Its a submersible centrifugal, you would assume you would want to pump up yet they put the outlet on the side. Its just inconvenient for where I want to put them. Other than that they seem like nice pumps. :)

It is a pond pump sleepe, not an aquaponics pump.
a lot of made to order custom ponds have side outlets and the like.
in a pond setup, having the pump pipe come up out of the water is ugly.

thats the only reason i can think of as to why they would pump out of the side.

i paint pretty little butterfly pictures and unicorns and other cute stuff like "sweetie belle" and "applejack" on my pond pipes so they arent ugly, i dont have the luxury of an overhanging deck. :(
