Where did you get the Laguna from Gabe? I have been looking at the 7500's and the cheapest I've seen is just over $400 plus delivery. :)

Hi Sleepe

From petland in Canberra.

Note - you need cajones of steel to deal with the delivery company.

Thanks for that Gabe, they seem to have very good prices for Laguna's so when I'm ready I'll just have to battle the freight company. :)

One thing I did want to ask is about their click fit system I just want to do a 1m straight lift and this looks a bit difficult on larger pipe, any problems connecting to your system?

I bought a Laguna 7500 from Creative Pumps and its performed well so far, 1 year 24/7. I think it was about $290 but I just had a look and there now $358.

My 3yo Messner system N 4000 has died. Had it running continuously for the first 18 or so months until the impeller broke. Replaced the impeller and used it every now and then. Now after 6 months of no use its no go. Replaced with a Laguna max flow 1350 hoping for better luck this time.

I have a Tornado AHYP20 2000L/hr pond pump - my system has been running for only 4 weeks so far. It is super quiet - I can only tell its working by the water flowing and if I feel the slight vibration of the outlet pipe. Tornado's have a reasonable head height which I need for my grow towers. The 2000 is 45W and pumps to a max head height of 3.5 metres. Specs for the range are at http://www.waterscapes.com.au/pdf/torna ... _pumps.pdf

 Currently at a head of ~2 metres (for my towers) it is pumping ~700L/hr which is a little low for my system as I would like to exchange the FT volume of 900-1000L every hour. I am thinking of going up to the 3000 and keeping the 2000 as a spare, but it is a 70W pump so will be much heavier on the electricity. The other alternative is to get the 1000 (16W with flow rate of 500L/hr at 1 metre) and run it in tandem going directly from the ST to the FT then GBs. The 2000 will continue to go from the ST to the towers, to the FT then GBs pumping ~700L/hr at a head height of 2 metres. Or do I live with the 700L/hr and stock lightly? :?

:?: :?: Do I go up to the 3000 or do I get the 1000 and run it in tandem with the 2000 :?: :?:
:?: :?: Are there other energy efficient pumps out there that will give ~1200L/hr at 2 metres head :?: :?:

Any advice from more experienced AP members would be most welcome :notworthy:

I'm a little confused by the Laguna naming convention for the maxflo powerjet series. For instance, Creative Pumps has a "7500" model which is similar to the "2000" model from Age of Aquariums. See below.

http://www.creativepumps.com.au/zpumps/laguna/maxflo/laguna-maxflo-filterpumps.htm

http://www.aquariumproducts.com.au/catalogue_products.php?prodID=4234

Are these the same product?

Also wondering what the 38mm hose tails look like, do they connect straight to 40mm PVC pipe?

my friend uses laguna 7500 i think it is, he has had to use a piece of rubber hose to join it to 40mm pvc pipe if i remember correctly.

When you look at the instruction manuals, you will find that they give each pump two names. One metric, the other imperial. As far as the fittings go, they are barbed fittings, not slip as you would use connected to pvc directly. I have a piece of hose between my pump and the pvc.
