Considering we can't even get the name of a significant pump manufacturer right I think its fair enough it gets derailed.

Having said that a 44 full of wax would heat a greenhouse for a while at least.

Might depend on how tall the flame was though.

Possibly not the best technology to choose.

Actually, it would be pretty good except for the fumes...
since the size of flame is dictated by the amount of wicks and how close they are - do the flames join into one?

you can have many small flames, a few small flames or a few large or one huge, you could have it any way you wanted.

then for direct FT heating you could set your 316 SS tubing / radiator inside the candle and collect excess heat - also keeping the candle from becoming too hot and creating a run away flame - if you put in too many wicks/ made it all too big.

The Australian pump and the Caribbean pump seem to be going well in the survey (the Jaberoo and the Lagoona)

Grund as in ground Fos as in spring. :)

Hi Urrazeb.
I'm thinking about cooling a small system and that looks very interesting, would you mind explaining what you've done here ? Maybe this thread would be a more appropriate place though, cheers and thanks in advance. http://www.backyardaquaponics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=23514&start=60

I thought about building a walk-in cooler using a coolbot http://www.storeitcold.com/ and window AC for hanging deer and house the FT. I know of a couple guys from another forum that built them back in 2010 to hang deer. They keep it at 35f when its 80f plus outside. Very reliable and good CS. Insulate the beds and a low flow or RAS.

Hey Rairdog, I like that coolbot, I have wondered about the possibility of making a cheap coolroom from mudbricks and an airconditioner, nice to know its not a totally crazy idea.

I thought i'll high-jack this heating/cooling thread and discuss my experience with my new pump :laughing3:

Installed a Laguna MaxFlo 16kl/h pump today to replace my Jebao 22kl/h pump

So how do they compare?

Jebao - operated for 4 years - Laguna - Brand new
Jebao - $200 (2011) - Laguna - $420 (2015)
Jebao - 220W (rated at 175W) - Laguna - 200W (rated at 160W)
Jebao - 20kl/h at 0m head - Laguna - 20kl/h at 0m head
Jebao - 7kl/h at 1.5m head - Laguna - 14kl/h at 1.5m head

-Power measurements is via an inverter. Inverter losses is probably around 15%
-Flow measurement is based on time to fill a 220 l blue barrel. Not 100% accurate but provide good comparison between pumps.
-Cost includes delivery charges

Conclusion
- biggest benefit of Laguna is much higher flow at 1.5m head.

PS - i also ordered a spare kit for the Laguna.
