SketchUp is so easy to use that we have now loaded it onto our school network... so guess who can play with it at work! :D

This was in the Sketchup email sent to users yesterday; VectorWorks is the program I work on, heh.

WHAT'S NEW
I thought I'd lead off with a great letter we received a few weeks ago. Peter Gulick, an architect in New York, writes:
"Last night we had a friend's daughter sleep over, she is 5 years old, and just finished kindergarten. I was working on my computer, looking at a plan in Vectorworks, and she comes over to see what I'm doing. I zoom in and out quick, thinking she might like that. "That's kind of boring," she says, "where's the bedroom?" Tough crowd.
Then she says, "do you have SketchUp?" I was thinking, maybe she was talking about some kids' drawing program, the kind where you can draw, paint, spray whipped cream on stuff, etc. Remember--she's 5. So I launched SketchUp (I have an evaluation copy) and when it's on screen she gets excited and says "oh I know what these all are (pointing to the icons), I'm going to make a building," and pushes me out of my chair. Then she makes a few circles and rectangles, pushes and pulls them, and in a few minutes makes her "building".
Wow. Then I show her how to make the sun and shadows move across the building, and turn on the "xray", put a person in the building, etc. "It doesn't look so good like that," she says after my changes, "you should put it back the way I had it." Yes ma'am."

Kids are alot of fun, and you never know what they will come up with. It does really show how great the program is that even a 5 yr. old can do it. Either that or she is a genius.
