Glad to help Helo. The two I have are going on 3 years without any problems. One of the two has been run continuously the entire time.

Ordered the 2900 last night. Got it for under 200 dollars and free shipping, with a 4 year warranty.

Those flow rates are pretty crap at just 0.6m head! What size and length pipes are you using? The 5000 would appear to be the best performer relative to the claims, assuming your pipe is sized appropriately.

Agreed,
I am running 1m of 25mm flexible hose into 25mm pipe all the way.
The flow rates at 0.6m was through the flexible hose only.
Here is a rough sketch i did the other day for another thread regarding air lift assist to increase flow rate.
I think that a better indication of each respective pump's output would be achieved by running it through a larger diameter pipe than a 25mm one. Try 40mm or even 50mm PVC pipe and maybe use a pair of 45º elbows in lieu of each 90º elbow. I have a couple of these pumps in service and, whilst I don't disagree that they fall short of the manufacturer's claimed flow rate, there are things we can do to maximise their performance in our own situation.

Sounds good, long warranty is a good sign usually.

Sigh. It is just before Easter and the pump has started tripping the RCD. Well it did last just over two years so I suppose that ain't bad for a pump. I'll just head off to BYAP for a new one.

What Sue? A four year warranty? I just need to bring in the pump and receipt? I'll be right back!

This is one of the many reasons that I will keep shopping from BYAP. I was willing to spend $200 for a new pump (the price at the shop is $110) but instead I came away with a new pump for nothing except a new four year warranty.

Thanks Sue. Thanks Joel.

Awesome outcome, can't ask for much more than that. Wish i could get a pump for $110 with a 4 year warranty.

Hi
I´m in the process of designing my system and came across this pump
http://www.wholesalepumps.com/index.php ... parent=241
I like the 24 V DC. with 2 x 12V Batteries Í have emergency back up and power is stabalized
40 Watts power consumption seems good to me compared to similar pumps with that flow capacity
This low consumption would also give me a cheap option of going with wind and solar
To be on the safe side I´m playing with the idear of 2 pumps and running half capacity
They talk about ceramic bearings
Yes my way of thinking is overdoing it a little, but here in Costa Rica everything is imported and expensive plus the transport costs. So for the near future I just want to forget about the pump issue

Anybody has tried that model or other Mod from Jebao ?

Thank´s

You can :)
This also happened with mine - Joel said that I was 1 of a small handful of people that had this problem and the pump was replaced.

Why are you all discussing pumps without first explaining your systems? I would think the size of the system, both in tank total volume, type of media, as well pipe size, length and head would all effect your pumps efficiency. jesus!

Hi LNC - and welcome! I see you've just joined us today :)

The answer to your question is largely because we're all so AP-obsessed that we mostly know how each other's systems are set up already, have usually been following them with great interest, supporting each other, and there are links to most people's systems in their signatures so we can check if we don't know.

I hope that helps explain LNC - I can understand your surprise since you're new to the forum. I'm still pretty new myself, but you'll see there are lots of threads like this that make more sense once you've been reading for a little while.

Enjoy your time on the forum :)

Fair bit of attitude there for one of your first posts!

The thread is titled "Pumps - good ones and bad ones"... so going by the title I would assume it was primarily created to discuss pump brands... good and bad... and users experiences with them... not what type/size of pump is suited to each individual system design.
