I have been through three different nets trying to find one that is light enough and swift enough to scoop up scared tilapia in a 500 gallon circular tank. You should see me and my daughter waist deep in the tank trying to corral freaked out fish.............. it is a fiasco!! Some fish launch clear out of the tank and smack into the wall. So I am on plan C. Whatever the heck that is?

I like the idea of fish traps...

I saw a fish trap for the first time this summer in Washington DC at a "folk life" festival at teh Pan Pacific display....they had Vietnamese farmers making them out of straw. Simple, yet smartly designed.

File comment: if you crowd the fish in the tank they will enter the only opening in the trap......me thinks

I've got a fish trap that I made years ago - totally illegal for me to use in ocean of rivers of course, so it has had very little use. I'd use it in my AP - but it is too big (2 metres long and about a metre diameter ).

PS - I plan on making a grader which corals the big fish into a small area when in action (similar to les' divider but incorporating the concept of grading as well).
