Pete has even visited the BYAP shop and I am sure with the fullness of time he may express his desire/obsession with the AP market. Lets drop it all and if the forum moderators have a prob with it they will sort it out.
It is all fun here isnt it?

I'm still thinking of getting a BYAP kit, with a few mods, but I like their set ups, If the shop I worked in were mine I would be honoured to be a BYAP reseller, but I don't have the final say on that, but I am in discussions with my boss if he would be interested in something like that before I pursue the matter any further, in the mean time when people come to me for products, I will do what I can to help them out. after all that is what anyone would do in retail. I'm sorry that it is done on BYAP I do need to be reminded that this is not an unbiased site sometimes, after reading articles all day on this forum I tend to forget where I am. considering people from all over the world post here, I seem to think I'm on AP facebook or something, once again I'm sorry no harm is meant.

No problems... just thought it necessary to raise the matter... it seemed to be going above and beyond the concept of AP'ers sharing a purchase...

Hi
Here are some real world performance figures I measured on a pump I have just bought.
Set up to lift water 1m via a 25mm ID hose for the test.

Laguna Powerjet Maxflo 6000
Model No.- PT 344
50 litres/min or 3000 litres/hour
67watts/hour or 1.608kw/day
At 22.1c/kwhr gives a cost of 35.5c/day or $129/year

If I can find some larger hose (32mm) I will run the test again.

The power consumption was measured using a meter I loaned from the Local Council that you can plug in between the appliance and the power point.
Some will question the performance against the manufacturers figures. It doesn't worry me to much as I am more concerned about knowing what is really happening and planning my system around that. :)

regards

Highlighted is your poor flow reason. You would probably get aound 4000 lph with a 40mm hose at that height.

Yes, it will be interesting to try a larger diameter hose. Also if the 25mm ID pump outlet is the limiting factor. This test was restricted by the 20mm ID of the pump hose fitting.
Hopefully get some time this weekend to play around with it.

Just had a better look at the pump, the max outlet size is 20mm ID.

Its not simply the diameter but the length of the retricted pipe
ie 50cm long piece of 25mm may have similar effect as 10m of 40mm or 2 cm of 20mm
I can work the number if anyones interested
These pumps are highly sensitive to restricion on discharge
My Laguna 6000 has multifit outlet up to 32mm and I think theres a 40mm adapter availiable

It will definately flow better if it is through a bigger fitting and pipe.

I'm going to try running a 13000lph pump through 25mm pvc....the reason (off course) is I can get 25mm pipe like the budgie (cheap cheap)

How cheap?? I don't think you will get maximum flow through the 25mm and may add back pressure on the pump, adding more heat and inefficiencies => use more power.

Very....but this offer I can't share (I would usually) Mates a plumber and I'm building a big system for him :D

You are most likely right about maximum flow ivan it's just the whole budget thing that's making me do it

That's alright. I am happy where I get my pipes and fittings from. Well I get my 25mm for $5.65+GST and 40mm for $11.80+GST. I reckon the 40mm is worth the money.
