It seems my dilemma just got worse, whilst I was pondering upon a 3000L trough being too big or not, along comes another offer of a 4000L one (2.7m d * 1.2 h) for $550 delivered…

I think the tank is bigger than 4000L

1.35*1.35(radius)*3.142(pie: mmmm pie!)* 1.2 (height) = 6,871L :shock:
so probably closer to 6,000L useable

Gotta be careful there A, the 1.35m diameter is normally the outside diameter including any lip - this is very especially pertinent with water troughs as they slope in, so if they quote 4,000 (four thousand litres) I would go for that :wink:

I just called back for more details, and they have changed again. They are Nylex, 4500L, 2900mm (dia) 870mm (h), but still $550 delivered
