I havnt got a corrugated tank yet but i picked up 4 pressed steel baths from the rocky dump for $80.00. On the way home from the dump i found on the side of the road a half length of 150mm class 12 pressure pipe which i will use for my autosyphon surrounds. Im going to house the baths atop an old trampoline frame and use them for my grow beds. The idea is to let them gravity feed to my fish tank on the ground. (corro tank) I will use my old septic as a subterainian reservoir and pump from that to the grow beds. When the water returns to the fish tank it will drop and aerate. The fish tank will over flow from a bottom exiting pipe to my reservoir and hopefully fish tank water will remain at a constant level. The subterainean reservoir will be 2 times the grow bed so every secound pump cycle will see the fish tank water completely replaced. One pump and gravity. All the timber for the grow bed stands has been salvaged from the dump. Im going to get my ten mil aggregate and screen and clean via old bed frame. We are on water restrictions and cant hose anything. However i have a 45000 lt poly tank which is full. The poly tank cost me $4300.00 dollars 3 years ago.
Our local dam is chock full of red claw which we harvest in the summer months mm yummy. So rather than eat them i might save a few for my system. Dam is also stocked with sleepy cod, striped gudgeons and saratoga. Anyway im off to the dump for some recycle therapy, i love tip rating. Ill post some pics of my system when i fix my digital cam.

Blue fin, has the septic been sitting with stagnant water for years?

Maybe set up a sump pup in there and airate the water for a few days if it has.

jayme
i live in a town called Mt Morgan 40kms southwest of rocky but i work in rocky. I bought the house next door for 3000 dollars about 5 years ago. I demolished it and the septic has remained in the ground. Im going to remove the concrete lid and pump it out. The septic hasnt been used for 8 years. I have to pick up a submersible before i can start cleaning it. Unless i can syphon it out, i live on a hill. Agh i dont think i will suck on the end of the pipe to start the syphon though. Then i thought of a hydrochloric acid wash.

How is the Dee River these days? Maybe if you use some of the water from near the tailings piles, that was pretty acidic from memory!

eeeccchhkkk!! dont fancy being the syphonist at all!

You can do lots without putting acids in there.
Have u checked to see if there is a crust or is it mush.
All that decomposed poop surely it can be used?

just get yourself a submercible pump that handles solids. The one i have passes 30mm solids. surely filling it with creek water and airating it for a week will help aerobic micros take over? There was some ine here that did a stint at a treatment plant.................can't remember who it was.
