ouch!! looks like its been done when shaft pressed into bearing very chinese seems everything you get from chna has to be gone through first still very hard to pick that one. havnt received mine yet but from pics seems to be bit different looks as if vertival oscillator bolts to main alternator section and rides on roller bearings more like a gooseneck on a pushbike but will be definately sussing it out.

Well, I have survived, despite the wind generator falling off the mast.
I have an old, single cylinder water cooled, Petters diesel engine which I plan coupling the generator to. I need to work out the speed I need the gennie to spin at to generate the 1KW it is rated to provide. I will then get a suitable pulley and Vee Belts to drive it from the Petters.

I will then have a controllable generator, providing power and heat.
I have a source of heat exchangers through which I can pump the FT water and coolant to cool the engine and heat the FT. I have a small gear pump which I plan to couple to the Vee belts to provide the FT circulation. I may need to go to a plastic centrifugal pump if the brass one is not suitable for fish water.

I am considering thermo-syphon as the engine coolant circulation method, but may need a pump after all. Operating temperatures will determine the final configuration.

Tony

I have several fairly cheap Chinese pumps. One of them is like the one here http://www.aquariumproducts.com.au/cata ... 88&catID=2 and a couple of others are pretty much the same but very slightly smaller. This afternoon I made a couple of changes to the system to bring my 500litre sump into commission. I had a brain freeze and redirected the outflow of the continuously flooded grow-bed to the new sump - but left the pump for that grow-bed running in the old sump. Result was a pump running dry for 4 to 5 hours before I noticed it late this night.

It was still running, though was a bit hot .

I've plonked it in the right sump and it is running fine for now. It will be interesting to see how well it goes from here on :-)

Not sure if itt has been mentioned here ,, but ,, if anybody gets fairly serious in system size ,, 3 phase motors / pump are far more efficient and very easy to replace bearing on etc.

  • Appears to be a great little pump.
  • Performs at specified flow rate/head.
  • Very quite operation.
  • Runs as a submerged pump or as an inline pump provided it is plumbed lower than the water level being pumped.

i have the same pump as mylesau but the 4500 version. early appearance is that this is a great little pump. has a lot more kick then any of the resun pumps i have used. i cant really compare them as this pump is in another league. will be interesting to see how long this pump lives for. comes with a 2 year warranty none the less. a great investment and i'll be getting more soon.

it does look like a good price but wont do dirty water. thats pretty much the reason i got my jebao. solids tend to build up in the tank with a standard resun pump.

perhaps i'm looking at a different website to you. no resun pumps on the website i got my pump from handle solids. the jebao 4500 handles solids 0-8mm. what tends to happen with my resun is the filter will clog up with bacteria, detritus ect and restrict the flow of the pump. if i clean the filter regularly its not an issue but thats a pain in the arse. nothing is going to restrict the flow of the 4500 except for stuck fish. that could actually be a problem. no fingerling's with these pumps.

The resun pumps we see are normally for fountains and as power heads for sponge filters , so don't need solids handling capabilities. I think the ones that are able to handle solids are renamed Pondmax.

That Jabao 5000 for $66 looks good?
