sorry, he's asleep now! hehehe

Seriously, as far as I can recall he only made one lot of mango cider. There have been a number of pineapple/apple batches and of course, the berry/apple cider that nearly took your eye out ;)

Mangoes tend to be used in daiquiris with lots of rum and ice cream

I cant believe you're serious J. I'm guessing that the amount of air you're pumping is less than the smallest battery operated air pump you could buy? I think you would have been better off taking a wheel off of your car, wedging a stick into the valve so that it releases air, and then dropping it into your tank. Set your alarm so that it goes off every hour, and if the power is still off go and repeat with the next wheel. 4 wheels + spare gives you 5 hours of air. In the morning wake up hubby, tell him you've got a flat tyre, and go back to bed.

About 3 months ago I brought one of those air pumps with the battery back-up. Recently a local forum member (the only one who has dial-up) said that he heard from a supplier that the battery was a dud and they didn't work. I tested it today while I had my system pulled apart for maintainence. It was still going after 6.5 hours, although probably at around half strength. The longest power failure I've had here was about 4 hours so I think at least the fish will be OK.

Well, after reading through this thread I have purchased the fail over switch bilge pump trickle battery charger & battery for my system and setting it up like VB, hopefully I never have to use it but toal cost about the same as a couple of hundred fish.

BUT I have a bicycle pump in a 'Break Glass in Case of Emergency" box next to my fish tank just in case
