You would have to think its a manufacturing fault after just 4 weeks.
Unless you didn't have many airstones on it.

I know there are spare diaphragms, but not found them online yet. Going to order one in next time near shop.

Touch wood mines still going fine.

Speaking with the shop I stressed 4 weeks about 5 times.

Spare diaphragm is $14 each.

Yep, ran my 12 outlet airpump nonstop for nearly two years... have had it sitting in the gargage over summer...

Dusted it off today in preparation for the trout... plugged it in... and away it went... just like it had never stopped....

Oh.... and it just isn't that noisey either.... in fact I asked the neighbour (about 10-20mtr away) if he'd noticed I'd started it up again....

It wasn't until he leaned over the fence and listened hard... that he said he could hear it humming ....

I would get a new diaphragm and give it a go.

However i just checked your thread if those small airstones are all you have (page 10) I think the issue is not enough outlets.

I have at least that on an 02 4000 and probably more since mine are all larger.
8 x 100mm round
6 x 30mm balls
2 x 200mm long square

Diaphragm pumps do not like being restricted, and it will cause early failure.

I am currently running 1 x 02 Plus 12000, and 1 electromagnetic piston pump.

The 02 Plus is 60 watts, and the electro piston is over 120 watts - the 02 Plus shits all over the piston pump. Silent, low heat, and quiet.

I have a couple more 02 plus on the way, diaphragms are cheap, and easy to replace - but just run a whole heap of stones.

Might be not enough outlets. I used to use the balls in 50 mm but they easily clogged. The stones I have are quite good in that they legally of air out without clogging. Might grab a few more plus some spiltters and make it 20 outlets.

As per above from Privatteer how many outlets/stones are you running?

Called the importer.

They are sending replacement diaphragms to me as they also agree that 4 weeks a pointing to a inherent problem.

Happy with that outcome.

Still unhappy about having the issue in the first place.

Thats a lot of airstones. I am only running 5 x 50mm round ones and 1 x 150mm long one.

I found when I tried to place the airstones on the bottom of my tank - around 1M deep that no bubbles reached the surface. As the water pump was still running and the water swirling I was not sure if they were getting absorbed into the water (doubt it) or the pressure was too much and nothing was coming out at all.

Heres another type, Sonic range.
I have 2 x 65 lpm ones rather than 1 x 125, slightly more efficient and hopefully if one fails the other will at least deliver 50% air required.
http://www.aquariumproducts.com.au/cata ... 5&catID=14
Ones done 24/7 for a year now no problem. I did read of someone having an issue.
Im using four air tube type diffusers, 1m deep

How noisy is it?

Fan noisy or compressor noisy?

I had no problem, I did run 20mm retic pipe from the shed to the tank however. Only the last 1.5m is the 4mm pipe.
I actually have 1 more stone on than I listed but its normally dialed right back with an inline tap. Opening it does make a difference on the others.
6 stones in that filter
