Anyone know much about these things. When I talked to the aquafarm they said they use a small pump for all there air. Don't know if this is the same kind of pump or how much it will cost to run but they range from 200 lts to 3000lts per min. The ad said they have been known to run for 20years.

180w x 24 hours = 4.3kwh/day

4.3kwh = ~ 60 c per day (15c/kwh)

= $218 per year

=$4368 over 20 years :geek:

Assuming power costs dont escalate greatly

That doesn't seem too bad. Wonder how many air stones I can connect to it :D 90ish
Also the fish shop had one he used for deliveries by running it on a 12v inverter. So it would be good to use on an inverter if the power goes out. We don't have many black outs but with the amount of fish I'll end up having it could be a good investment.

Run it off the inverter continuously - you'll know if it fails then. Before a mains failure happens.
