In the photo above i think it would be better to take the pipes off the 4 valves and have the water inter the bed at the other end from the exit

I see! Well I might have to pick up a couple of containers and some vermiculite + perlite! I've been reading about vermiculite and it's uses as a seed raiser, I might tack a little bed on my system and use primarily for raising seedlings if that's the case :)
