Hey everyone,

Thanks for all the awesome feedback!!

I'm jumping on a plane in just a minute so I don't have time to go over all this but I did update my diagram last night. For some reason the forum isn't letting me edit the original post with the diagram so I'll do it here.

Getting there ;)

thanks!!!

Keith

it wont. you can edit a post unlimited for about 10-mins after you post it.
that allows you to fix or add anything. (great for hindsight doh! moments).
if someone posts then you can still edit but it then shows the [edited x times] message.
(you sometimes get caught when editing and other posts cross)

the idea is you can edit to fix up things if you read it and notice something but you cannot edit after a short time so that the integrity of the thread is maintained - that way subsequent posts make sense in the future.

What you did is correct - there is now a 'story' developing for future readers to follow.

Alright here is the next iteration. I'm looking at doing a F & D to start with. The goal is to move 1000 gallons minimum through the system an hour. I believe that can be done with two 15 minute fill cycles. I moved the four grow beds to a parallel arrangement so they could fill faster. Each would hold approximately 125 gallons of water so in total they would hold 500 gallons. The two inch pipe with about 36 inches of fall will move 2400 gallons per hour according the linked chart (double thanks!! most helpful !!). Accounting for friction and such let's call it 2000 gph. So 500 gallons will take about 15 minutes.

Pump runs for 15 minutes, fills the four grow beds with about 500 gallons. I raised the drain bed exit pipe size to two inches which means it should drain in well under 15 minutes. At the half hour the pump kicks back in for 15 minutes and the cycle continues. Two floods and drains an hour moving at least 1000 gallons.

The only problem with this is that my fish tank then has to be six feet or more above my sump. ugh.

Thoughts?

thanks!!!

Keith
