JTJF_1,

I rekon if the pump was working properly and is now it is electrocuting you, the best thing to do is to turn off the switch, take out the plug, take it out of the water and take it to a big open space, like a football field. Swing the pump around your head by the cable a few times and see how far you can throw it. Click you fingers together and marvel at how funny life is and how lucky you are the first electrocution was not too servere. Then throw the now completly broken pump in the bin, and buy a new pump and put it in. If you try to earth out your faulty pump you may create an open circuit and then anoyone who touches they system may get a life threatening zap (and miss the chance to feast on your crops).

In Australia we have a open cuircut dectector in our homes that cuts off all power within milliseconds of an earth leakage - preventing fatal electrocution...

Please keep posting over the next few days so we know your earthing experiement has not cost a valuable AP entusiasts life...yours.

Well atleast that is what I would do.

Well I swapped the pump for another but had to leave the old one in as it is attached to a pipe at the bottom of the tank. SO i just unplugged it and stuck the plug up in the roof. When we harvest the fish in 2 weeks i will drain the system and pull out the old pump. The old pump will go to someone to repair it as in indo nothing gets thrown away.
