hi all,
have a bit of a run with Guppy's aquarium Products on-line . i have had a very poor customer care and would like to share it with you.
i bought a HJD-02 electromagnetic air pump 40L/min outputs (with 1-year warranty) from Guppy's aquarium Products (in Qld) and it run for only 7mths (that 's ok)...i email them and they told me it was diaphragm that need replacing and that they will send me one out if i send them a satchel.
i e-mail them back and said that it would take too long (as i need the parts urgently) . they suggested that i do a paypal of $4.80 which i did straight away. I e-mail them to confirm the payment. I didn't hear from them for 2-weeks. I e-mail them again and again and again...
#$%@#$ did not even have the courtesy to reply. Finally they reply to say that they have send it i said that i have not received it and it doesn't take 2 weeks to received goods from Qld to WA. They said they will send it again. Took only another 3day to get it.( by now has been 3weeks pass) . GUESS WHAT.... they send me the wrong size diaphragm. i email them straight away on 22/11/10(monday) and explain that it was the wrong size and could they send me the right one and email me with a reply. Today is 26/11/10 (friday) the @#$%#$# have not have the courtesy to reply to me. i am not happy with their services. I can't ring them because they do not have a phone number ..only via email.

have anyone dealt with them before? i'm mad as hell as the weather here is getting hotter and my trout are not looking forward to it without air.

Hence the reason for such sayings as...

You get what you pay for. And.. Cheapest isn't always best.

I haven't had any experience with them in particular, but often online stores that sell things dirt cheap don't have any margins in there to provide customer service or support.

Wow, not even a phone number..???

I know that doesn't help you at all stargate... :support:

Hi stargate, I know not sure if this would help, but I know Aquotix along Bannister Road in Canningvale are a pretty helpful bunch as well. They may have some replacement parts available...

For all those with electromagnetic pumps, A rep told me this, but you can just go to clark rubber and buy a sheet of rubber the right thickness and cut out your own diaphrams, for $10 will probably last you the life of the pump. Obviously not all air pumps you can but the piston type electromagnetic ones that's all there is too it, haven't had to do it yet but that was what I was advised as a money and hassle saver.

Stargate, check out my thread page 4 (link).
I pulled the same unit apart after mine died and found a few things wrong with mine. Since you got yours apart you might want to check.
It works a lot better now it can pull air into the casing.

Greenfingers in Albany highway near Kelvin road usually have them in stock.I have given up on air pumps as they are too unreliable, they always give trouble when you are not around.I use a water pump and drop it in from a hight above to make bubles.
