I would go for a "useful" solution.


Plastic welders are great ... I use them, and teach my students how to use them, but there is a little bit of a learning curve associated with them, and the plastic rods must be ideally suited to the plastics that you are welding for best results. Loads of practice before you attempt to work on something "expensive" is worth considering.

If you can get to the floor of the prob from the inside, then I would suggest patching from the inside rather than the outside as water pressure will help seal the patch.

Gaskets and large pipe fittings and big flanges would IMHO be worth considering.

Cut out the bad spot and put in a bulkhead fitting, gasketed on both sides. I have a PE welder, but the airfare,.....
