Emptied the filter on Sunday, and there was some waste material in the bottom, but not very much, just enough to cover the bottom of the barrel really, and the bottom of my DWC trough has quite a bit of solids sitting in the bottom of it.
I have a very strong spray bar running in the Fishtank, and I'm wondering if maybe that is breaking up the solids too fine to be caught by the RFF.
Considering taking out the centre pipe from the RFF and doing my onion bag filled with media idea between the inlet and outlet pipes.

Would Rdial filter work if the inlet would to be feeder by gravity and the outlet connected to the inlet of a pump? Ie using radial as some sort of pre-filter.

very unlikely, your pump will want to suck the RFF outlet dry.

you would certainly be safeest with a body of water between, like a sump.
