yeah we are refering to PAR as photosynthetically active radiation

thats cool-the main reason chinese led lights break is because they skimp on heatsink size( cheaper to build) these obviously wont have that issue(liquid cooled )

unfortunately(and im sorry but i feel i shoudl tell you now before u buy more of these) the only way to decrease light intensity with these fixtures is to dim them or raise the light

raising the light with these fixtures you will loose intensity fast fast as they dont have optics

the dimming is pwm-it pulses to give the illusion of less intensity(research is being done on how that effects plants but we know it can trigger epileptic fits in humans) so it doesnt become more effecient when run soft(as is the case with CC dimming)

if you do buy anymore leds in the future I cant speak highly enough of the surexi chip fixtures by illumitex- for lettuce its really gonna be better-moe chips spread out across a larger footprint with built in optics

You're right, we can raise it or dim it. This is not really the fixture for this kind of growing, i agree, but it is what we have at the moment. Once the other lights arrive we will be able to do the real testing. The P-series are a lower powered series more suited for vegging plants and will be setup throughout the system in different sizes. The 6mg in that series is about 44"x24" so it covers a better area and can be closer to the plants. It also has the same chips as the HiOptix they are just underpowered. All these chips are 13w. So I believe our best results will come from the other series. The HiOptix is a fantastic light for pot tho. haha

oh i thought they were 8.6 watts( 120 lumens per watt) but you say they are 13w?

hmmmm

i will follow closely- although i have limited experiece growing with aquaponics i have extensive experience with LEDs
hope to help and learn along the way

They are 13 watt LEDs that are only using 8.6-9.1 watts. So they will last even longer. And can be cranked up as well.
