The ones I saw were for auto flushing urinals and didn't need mechanically triggering. They start to work when the water level in the cistern fills to the correct level

Seems over priced to me. By the way, I let a Malasian gentleman invent my wheel. About the only fiddling I have done is adjusting the inflow of my beds, and the occasional cleaning out of roots.

For "my" needs, I lean towards simple garden hose loop siphons. Been running just fine for 2+ years, and I can adjust the water height with simply dropping or raising the top of the loop. Plus, I set up to drain 8 beds for less cost than 1 fancy siphon. Just my opinion........

I don't know if I am looking in the wrong place (specialist bulk pipe suppliers online) but the cost of pipe and bulkhead fittings here in the UK certainly isn't cheap! Would be interested to hear more about the garden hose loop. What size beds are you using this on? I have two 1.8m x 1.2m and two 1.8m x .6m
