Hi all,


From doing searches on the web there is so many ddifferent types of pumps.
Would someone who knows more about pumps be able to take a look at my set up link below and advise me what to look out for in watt, L/hour etc etc

Are you planning on constant flood or flood and drain?

generally the rule of thumb is to circulate the water once per hour.

so for CF 3500L/hr @ your head which I guess is about 1.5m

for a timed F & D running 15 minutes in the hour 12000L/hr @ 1.5m

so on the attached pump curve the the PM6500H for CF or the PM1600H for F & D

probably better to go a bit bigger than undersize the pump.

And once you have gone one size bigger pump for future growth, make sure you add a extra valve over your sump tank to relive the extra water in your system, I have my two grow beds at max water flow and fish tank at max capacity input and still need a overflow tap to take the extra water away into my sump tank, but for now that is fine as I have my pump on a timer that I can set as I want to run with 15 min slots, but my system will be expanding eventually over time, I am new to this too and I think if we all help each other on our way we will all reach our goals in the end,

Also make sure you account for the TOTAL dynamic head of you system not just the vertical height. If you use relatively small pipes from your pump to your fish tank can add an extra 0.5m of effective "vertical" head very easily. This can significantly reduce your flow.
