I have access to a couple of blue barrels that have contained liquid chlorine and caustic.
Would these be safe to cut and use in AP if cleaned out?
If not, would they be safe to use as wicking beds?

Tried to search the forums but search isn't working on my computer at the moment.

I've used ones with caustic no dramas - I would imagine after a good clean Chlorine would be ok too - its water soluble and breaks down in sunlight.

I would give it a rinse before cutting it - don't want strong caustic solution coming out at you with the saw!

Yep, rinse first!... no matter how innocuous the former contents seem.

A few years back I cut a blue drum that had contained Acetic acid (super strength vinegar used for pickling) and I hadn't bothered to rinse the drum out as there was only a dribble of the Acetic acid left in it... I was overcome by the fumes and almost passed out... and it caned my nose throat... and dissolved the road marking paint in the carpark where I cut it... lesson learnt.
