I presume you're thinking of it as a replacement for PVC piping....

It states it requires 70 psi to operate..... normal pumps in small systems might not be able to inflate it properly...

Doesn't say if it's UV stabilised for continuous usage...

Not sure why you would want it. What would be the advantage?

This hose is not meant for pressure as it is a discharge hose. It is meant to be used open ended for use with sump pumps etc on construction sites. If you were to put a valve on the end to regulate flow it will not hold up to the pressure depending on your pump size. (It will likely burst at over 70 psi) It is easy to puncture this type of hose also. It is the same material they make inflatable pool toys out of, I wouldn't trust it to hold up for long.

If its on the flimbsy side and puntures easy it would be a no go. But if it is used on construction sites they must be a heavy duty virson around. I don't want it for perssure but for drain. Being flat means good storage. And a hose gives more efishent water flow over distance and curves. It would add more organic feel to f&d systems. Just thought it was neat to point out, it would be ideal for me to use hose though. no more fittings and waste pipe.

It will take energy to get the water to raise it all along the way. hardware store drain line would do you. I suppose you could look for the smooth stuff as compared to the corrugated stuff so the water would be easy to roll out as you rolled it up.

38mm is a very small drain line, thats only a few mm larger than my feed line.

Efishent. Lol if you think that's bad I spent 15 trying to spell 'bearthing' still can't get it spell. I mean the process in witch the lungs expand and contract to extract oxygen. Yeah that b word. I was saying it would make a flod and drain system look organic because of the pipes breathing. Lol

Here is a vid of the lay flat hose in action.look at the easy c,onections It comes in up to 8in across.

Sugar cane goes nuts in my ap system. So much so that I had to take it out or it would take over the grow bed.

PVC lay flat hoses are widely used in some Ag irrigation operations but since it is a flexible PVC it will leach a stack of chemicals into you system water. Would not use at all but espeacially not at all in an AP system.

So Stuart does flexible PVC leach more than normal PVC?

These guys seam to think different.

"This hose is NSF 61 listed and meets various international food standards."

As far as plastics go PVC is very safe but the manufacturing process is nasty. PVC is basically inert but it is also rigid.

When a number of chemicals are added to it during the production process it becomes flexible. Over time those chemicals leach out.

PVC even flexible PVC is rated as food grade by a number of regulatory bodies. Trust them if you wish but many of the chemicals contained in flexible PVC and many other plastic products are human hormone analogues, toxins and other nasties.

Various articles and links supporting the above contentions have been posted multiple times on the forum.

I never heard such an argument put across about flexable PVC. I know there is a issue with the black irrigation hose.but never heard it applied to felexable PVC this is the first time.

But just saying it is not good is not really enough to go on, as PVC and all other plastics are harmfull to some extent. So yes felexable PVC is harmfull but is to more harmfull than a copper pipe for example? Then I can weigh the benifits of being flexable easy to store and use and easyer repear ect with if flexable PVC is .03 more to it than normal PVC.

This is a question and nutting more, i like pushing bounderies with my designs, so new meterials are all ways welcome.
