I think we could start up a "101 uses for blue barrels" thread.. Nice work SS..

Attempt at brewing my own Weed Tea didn’t last long.
Its rather particular smell wasn’t up to my DW more refined taste
so replaced it with B/ Barrel Worm Farm.

Just found this thread and know what I'll be doing sometime in the next few weeks... I have about 20 barrels sitting around, so this is perfect... Now if I could get some details on your worm farm app...

Thanks!

Details???? WYSIWYG, Tap and a door at the bottom and one or two (empty) potato bags inside to keep it cool and moist.
Inside I have a piece of agripipe covered with gravel and piece of shadecloth to allow for a good drainage.
Still need to find a decent lid for it, so for now the tap is kept open to let the tea drain when it rains.

Read this thread quite some time ago. Appreciate the idea Steve. Had to use what I have laying around to make one of these. Not even close to being as neat as yours, but I think it will do the trick.

Heat gun to bend the 3/4" PVC lid frame
1" to 3/4" Tee to make the hinges
Held down to the barrel with EMT conduit straps
Had some thick clear plastic left over from who knows what project, zip tied around the frame
Ran out of black spray paint for the outside but it still gets warm inside
River gravel in the bottom of the barrel to make a nice level bed
Half barrel cut to size as a stand and screwed into the bed barrel on the front and the back
Filled the base/stand with water to act as a passive heat source

Damn, can you say "Redneck Version"?

OMG what a fantastic propogator! Now I can throw out the not-so-waterproof glass-windowed bathroom cabinet I've been using for the last 6 years for seed raising. Thankyou for the instructions and pics :)

Excellent work and it gives me an idea for my chicken run which I want to start building tomorrow.

I got some seed mixture from green harvest for the chickens and was thinking of adding some areas in the run which I can close off for regrowing. Now I think I will try to make 3 of these drums with cover as a simple wicking setup.
