Hi.
How deep should a grow bed be? My next question follows this question ... When it's said that a unit has a 100gallon growbed, what does that really mean? Is that equivalent to how much water would fit in it?

I'm trying to picture how much surface space is actually being used (or should be used) in a 100 (or 200 or 300) gallon grow bed. Is there a simple equation to figure this out?

If you know of other threads that already cover this subject be direct me that way.

Thanks a bunch.

Surface Area vs Depth of Grow Beds

I think the default estimate for the amount of volume occupied by grow media is 2/3rds of the bed's volume. Thus a 100l bed will probably end up holding only about 33l of water. Of course every type of grow media is slightly different, so you won't know with perfect accuracy until the bed is filled and drained.
