I've heard of someone applying parafin to his concrete tank and heating it in. I'm pretty sure he acid washed the tank first, too.

Try rehearsing your comment before you use it.
If you remove any ambiguity it should be watertight!!

Problem solved! :headbang:

Yeah but don't use the besser blocks, use their versalock. Much better product.

Just been doing a bit of reading on the versalock product, look excellent. In the specs I couldn't find a whole head of information on the "complete" setup tho and they only list certain blocks being available, do you know if they are still compatible with the 50.31 Capping Tile (to finish the top off) and the 20.45 Special cleanout (to make the slab base interlocked with the walls) ?

Ended up calling Adbri as it turns out they have a warehouse in Toowoomba

Still need to allow about $4-$4.50 a block with the different ones

They advised should be fine to use the Versaloc™ series along with the 200 Series
Layout of 20.45 special cleanout for the first coarse
Versaloc™ 200 series for the rest of the courses and knocking the top lip off them and using 50.31 Capping tiles for the finishing touch.

On the versaloc brochure it mentions
1.9 Tanking
Where the retaining wall is required to be waterproof, various
proprietary tanking methods are available. One such method
is a three coat liquid rubber compound incorporating a
special reinforcing fabric for high stressed areas.
Another method is a heavy duty, pliable, waterproof sheet
membrane fixed to the wall back surface. Surface coatings
or sheet membranes must always be used in accordance
with the manufacturer’s specifications.

To me this pretty much says if you want to use as a pond / fishtank ect you will need to apply something to the finished brick surface.

Put a rubber liner in, fish safe, no waiting, take it over the top edge and anchor mechanically or with weights on top
