about 205 gallons, 70's era frigidaire. cool two tone brown fade going on. i gutted it got all the styrofoam out, the lower deck had a layer of tar like substance, was a pain to clean out.

whats a good paint i can get at lowes to coat the inside, would like a blue but maybe not as expensive as the ames blue max rubber paint.

to seal all the holes is silicon sufficient or maybe jb weld or should i try to braze all the holes?

as a sump tank i have a 50's era old GE fridge that has a porcelain coating on the inside. is that fine or does it need a paint coating as well?

getting ready to build my outdoor system, hope these tanks will work.

I would invest in a plastic tank liner at least you will not have the fear that one day you may have to drain the whole tank to repair a leaking silcone patch.

ok im in the zone, and ill make this.. dollar store sells a shower curtain liner, buy a few of those and make a plastic welder out of all my crap, ok got my liner.


just in case, do cheap china made shower curtains have no-no's?

I actually meant a proper rubber/plastic pond/tank liner, there are manufacturers out there and althought the cost might be a bit of a shock it will be less of a shock than walking out to find all your fish swimming sideways in an inch of water

I look ed at fridges and freezers as tanks but found them as uneconomical because of their relative small size and the number of fittings needed to plumb them in. It can be done but their are cheaper ways.

Only time I would bother trying is to use the fridge/freezers cooling ability to keep trout all year round, but that aint gonna happen
A timber and plywood box and a pond liner would be better

i saw a site selling used billboard vinyl sheets, (used) and read a short blurb on the site about using for pond liners.. i think tc tried something like that? looked lower cost than regular pond liner
