Get yourself a cheap hole saw set at the B store ($12 for about 10 diferent sizes) and use the one that is approx the same size as the thread of the fitting you are using. Just try and push the hole saw blade over the fitting. Don't use anything that is bigger, because with your "hand wobble" it will create a bigger hole than you nedd.
Don't go too quick, let the tool do the work!!

The 25 mm bulkhead I use is a 32mm hole and it screws in perfect.
