That's key I think. The backup battery for my digital timer wasn't rechargeable. We lost power often this summer and the wimpy little backup battery ran out of juice & is not replaceable. As the battery went, the slightest touch would lead to everything resetting. When it happened while the pump was running - disaster.

Mines pretty similar with backup battery $15 at B- cannot be replaced but hasnt failed yet with multiple plug changes power off etc. My power outlet gets rain on it sometimes (it is under an eave but easterlies nail it) so I made a cover out of a screw container as it is indoor only. - I can get my fingers in to adjust. Not much on the thing but says Merlin distributors on the back. After reading through the threads this week I am tempted to get a repeat cycle timer to break my 15mins on 55 off into 7 on 25 off for more aeration - I am not running air at the moment and rely on the flow back direct to FT to do this...

Found a similar 20 on/off timer at B today.

I've set it to come on for 3 minutes every hour from 4am to 8pm. It then comes on for 6 minutes at 10pm, 12am and 2am. Hopefully that should be sufficient for now, but I'll keep an eye on it whilst it does it's fishless cycle for the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for the help everyone!
