Hi
i am building a system and i bought some "flowerball"s which are hanging plastic bags with holes for plants, i thought they would be good for strawberries but i am not sure what growing medium to use cause i dont want them to be too heavy and pull my structure down and i dont want something that will break down either, would hydroton work and can i get it in Perth

Hi Ruth,
I think you need vermiculite, becasue it is light weight and does not compact like potting mix. At the very least potting mix combined with vermiculite would suffice. The flower balls are not designed for expanded clay.

Or perlite, thats generally easy to get hold of as well.
