Careful Nocky. Quite a few women on this forum ARE in charge... of the family AP set up.

Are you human?: Daughters think not
Location: Horsham, Victoria, Australia
Mine has actually taken an interest in my setup, shock
She had to make some sandos for a work thing and decided to do egg and lettuce.
We had a couple of our chook eggs but she bought some, and actually went out to the greenhouse and picked lettuce from the AP beds.
She got comments the next day saying that the lettuce in the sandos tasted really good.
She then explained where the lettuce had come from and was grown on fish poo, and then she got very confused looks.
Love it

Are you human?: most of the time
Location: Upstate NY, USA
I am not going to be real far from you, and I am going with the Rubbermaids, probably 300 gal FT and the 100 Gal GBs, and a 150Gal sump. Can get all of it for under $700 US then the pvc and pump. From TSC.

I am relocating from Samaria Israel to upstate NY, in the western 'Southern Tier', this summer/fall/winter will be on getting settled and getting at least one node/system working.

Halides are very good but so are the compact fluorescents, cheaper to buy and more economical to operate, you can add a few extra hours to make up for lower intensity.

I operated halides one year on a reef system for growing coral, very nice results but the electric useage was not nice. I would seriously consider adding thermo proofed windows and a couple roof skylights or light tunnels, depending on where I locate I may well do that if I dont get a hoop house up.

I dont know where you are in Ontario but it could pay you to take a weekend and go visit the Tropicorium in Romulus MI, just immediately west of Detroit. Probably 2 hrs from Port Huron. He has a multiple permanent greenhouse system for growing and maintaining corals and marine fish, I am sure you would get LOTs of ideas there, not a show place just a sound working and producing aquatic operation in a temperate climate.

Good luck.

Thanks Yaacov. I just might do that. We're located about 1.5 hours from Buffalo so it would be about 4.5 hours one way. Definitely a weekend trip.

Thanks for the info.
