Hey yeah thats me though my stint was more of a fact that my uni happend to be built on the same property as the sewer plant so all our feild trips some how revolved around poop. With the septic tank i would think the main worries you would have are:

1 the oil/fat or "crust" layer this is that siting on top of all the poop. It is usually seen as a blessing as all the smell is kept in and keeps the system in anerobic digestion. but i don't know how you want to get rid of it.

2 what did the previous owners throw in there. I have seen some nasty stuff come through the sewer. People think they can throw anything away. and these things will clog pumps :pottytrain4: :pottytrain3:.

3. Can your system cycle tp i don;t think so.

I am assuming by the price of the house you are somwhere "boonyish" in Rocky so spreadin the waste on the feilds will be ok as long as it does not wash into any water supplies. though you may have a problem with all the tp or other solids they would clog a 30MM pump easily and the horendous smell :fart:.

Best bet

Just call a sewer guy to come suck it all up for you. His truck is ready for it its might be a big cost but do you really want to be cleaning the pump out every hour.

hi guys
the septic contents have settled and the water is crystal clear there is no smell, the guy lived alone for thrty years and it hasnt been used for about 8 years so im not expecting too much gunk. I visited the dump today and bought home a corrugated iron tank 1800 h x 1800 dia. The sides are good but the bottom is stuffed i was just planning to use it as a form. I will pour a floor then render inside and then coat with some form of goop. What was the name of the product that you sealed jamies tank with c1? There was another tank at the dump and ill pick it up tommorrow it is 3000dia and 850h. It might be better for my main fish tank. I set up my grow beds, three baths on 1 trampoline frame with hardwood cross rails supporting the baths at about 900 high.
The dee river is the most polluted river in Australia however the state and fed govs are spending millions rehabilitating it. Just down the road from my house it has a ph of 4, and thats an improvement.

Bluefin, we went there for a field trip for college. Very interesting profile of life forms down the river from the mine.

Great work on the scrounging Bluefin, thats going to be an interesting system.... One of the advantages of living in a smaller town, your aloud to tip scrounge, here in Perth we get fined if we try and scrounge something from the dump...
