I am using one as a fish tank. It grows lots of algae becasue it lets light in. I cut it inside the top bend to keep fish from jumping out. I use the drain valve with a 2 inch pvc drilled suction pipe to run off water and fish poop to the grow bed.
I use several to collect rain run off from the roof. Those on the sunny side of the house, I have covered with shade cloth to keep UV from making them brittle. I have two that I store WVO in before converting to biodiesel.
I have a caution: Inspect the lower areas of plastic for cracks. If you see a hair line push on it and see if it seperates. It will spread when you fill the tank so wont hold water. NOt impossible to patch but not worth full price.

Yeah I know the feeling. I spray painted mine, but it seems to have made little difference.
Gotta shade them methinks.

Last weekend I stood at the perimeter of my mum's property staring at the neighbour's tossed out THREE IBC's!! I took 2 hours to think about it, almost tempted to cross over and ask them if they'd give them away. The IBCs' looked to be in one piece each and nothing in them. But like everyone keeps saying... who knows what's been in them?
I just couldn't believe it... they were just chucked on the their property with no apparent care or regard to use them... Despite the fact that it costs 350 dollars new each.
Around here anyway...

Just ask them what was in them Jens... sniff them... carefully...

A lot of stuff will wash out with a mild detergent and several rinses and drying periods...

Most of the nasty stuff, especially the light sensitive chemicals.... comes in black IBC's...

Nothing ventured, nothing gained... I'd be over the fence in a blink...

Heck... if they don't want them... offer to take them away... and if you think they're too dodgy for fish...

List them on eBay...

for those interested in those 2 IBC I saw near my mum's place. I thought I saw 3 but it's 2. Mum talked to her neighbours and they're happy to be rid of them ASAP.
PM me if you want one. Because they're popular I'm only going to give 1 per family, and first ask, first served... sorry.
They're in good condition. They have their cages and are opaque coloured. They do not have their screw-on lids. Mum and I are wondering how the hell we're going to move them.

oh and they're free, but you're welcome to give us a donation ;)

they fit in a trailer easy, and one man can (if he has to) load them into a trailer on his own. I have spare screw on lids I think, if you need them
