My guess is a T wouldn't make much of a difference...it may create some more restriction. I think the trick is to size the restrictor to be just small enough to create the siphon action, but not too small to slow down the drain rate.

After the restrictor, you could continue with the wider tube to help create more pull....put your GB on stilts!
