I totally understand that it is essentially the uniseal pinching the liner between the uniseal and backing that creates the seal in this situation.

I know that my problem in this case was my being to lazy to cut a new better backing for the uniseal.

Now I had not though about trying to push the uniseal through the backing without cutting the liner first (I suppose since I had done so many bulkhead fittings first that required clear threads). I will try doing it without cutting the full size hole next time. Does seem that would hold the liner much tighter.

Sure thing TC,

I have gotten plenty of tips from you, so, perhaps this one of mine will help you. I learned about this when I had to figure out a way to put the uniseal into standing water. you know what "they" say about necessity.
