I would suppose that could be true depending on the speed and direction your system is moving relative to the speed of light.

Ahhh so brightness has nothing to do with it....but colour would.... either a red-shift, or blue-shift...

I guess I didn't expect to h ave to pull out some theoretical mathmatics to be able to decide whether horizontal or vertical would provide the greatest growing conditions, let me see what else I have from Mr Hawkings to help me with that :D

Just as long as the conversation doesn't move into the realm of trying to understand if the aquaponics system actually exists or if its just a figment of our minds, I would argue its very real of course as my bank account is hurting way to much for it to just be imaginary.

IMHO circular T5 36w per sq ft of bed for an office.

Tall plants would be difficult for the reflectors although most lower leaves are redundant.
There is a simple reason for vertical fluro growing.

"36w per sq ft of bed"

Think you could go to 15" x 15" if you boxed the cover down about 4" - 6" and painted underneath flat white.

I wonder what people think of something along the lines of these solatubes to get light into the house. I was thinking of doing something with mirrors or reflective substances to get light directed more efficiently through a window and came across this. Is this possible.... or just smoke and....

You could probably rig up something to concentrate sunlight and channel it into the house (like a light monitor) but after all that trouble you might as well just use a grow light. I think the material costs of a shiny channel thingo would be just as much as a grow light.

I looked into fiber optics when thinking about how to get light into the basement but fiber optics are $$$.

After a while you come to conclusion that the thing that matters is location location location, meaning locate the plants in a sunny area.
